The trek starts from Tumlingtar either by regular flight or a helicopter ride depending upon the weather conditions. The trail leads upstream along the Arun Kosi across the terraced fields and villages to reach Chichira. We leave the main trail and cross the Arun River to Tashi Gaon. From there, we go upstream to Makalu Base Camp. Then we cross the 3 difficult passes of the Sherpani Pass (6,110m.), West Col (6,135m.) and Mingbo La (5,817m.).
This trek, being one of the most strenuous in Nepal, requires that we are well acclimatized to cross the passes. During this trip you will have wonderful views of the mountains such as Kanchenjunga, Makalu I, Makalu II, Jannu, Baruntse, Lhotse, Everest, Ama Dablam, Pumori & Thamserku. From Baruntse Base Camp, the trek will continue through difficult passes like Mingbo La for which we need at least a line of 300m of fixed rope to descend the pass. The trek ends at Lukla.
